Which problems does it solve?

Using them correctly

The opening of the pouch must be folded over or closed at least twice — leakage almost always happens at the opening. Checking that the device is genuinely unreachable is simple: try calling the phone inside the pouch; it should be unreachable.

Fabric pouches can wear: not carrying the metal-thread surface in the same pocket as sharp objects, and testing the performance from time to time, is good practice. For corporate needs we have custom-sewn pouches and bags made from the fabric.

Doesn't flight mode do the same job?

It is a software mode; on a compromised device it offers no guarantee, and some radios such as NFC/UWB can stay on. A physical envelope works independently of the software — security likes that.

Does a key pouch completely cut the car's range?

In a properly closed 50+ dB pouch, yes — the test at the door handle is the most reliable check. If the pouch is worn or its opening is left unfolded, protection drops.

Will a phone charge or receive messages inside the pouch?

Wireless charging and all communication are cut off — that is the whole point. Messages arrive once the device leaves the pouch.
